Cougars win York Tournament Consolation Championship, beat Batavia 61-58 in 2 OTs

The Conant Cougars won 61-58 in 2 OTs against Batavia on Wednesday to win the Jack Tosh York Holiday Tournament Consolation Championship.  Dan Sotos led the effort with 15 points and had 12 rebounds. He was an All-Tournament selection.                          
The Conant Cougars pulled ahead early, claiming a 18-16 lead at the half.
Sotos shot well from the field for the Conant Cougars, making 43% (6-for-14) of shots attempted.
Brandon Vinson (14 points) and Chris Dolce (13) each had multiple three-pointers.   Dolce sparked the comeback with the Cougars down by 9 with a steal converted into a lay up.
Also contributing for the Conant Cougars were Kyle Bradley (8 points, 7 rebounds including two gamechanging offensive rebounds), Jim Sotos (4 points, 2 rebounds), Ben Schols (3 points, 1 rebound), Ryan Davis (2 points, 1 rebound) and Chima Oduocha (2 points).
The Conant Cougars finished the game with 37 rebounds (19 offensive/18 defensive) and one steal.

Cougars emerge victorious against Minooka

The Conant Cougars were victorious against Minooka 37-35 on Tuesday with the help of Dan Sotos, who scored 15 points. The Conant Cougars locked in the win in the fourth quarter on a two-pointer from Chris Dolce. The Cougars advance to the Consolation Championship of the York Tournament and play Batavia tomorrow at 12:00.                          
The Conant Cougars trailed early, and were losing 22-15 by the half, only to come back with a vengeance in the final two quarters. With 12 points in the third quarter, the Conant Cougars added to their existing lead.
Sotos led the Conant Cougars's offense with 15 points, including eight during the first period. He also contributed six rebounds and one block.                           
Also helping the effort for the Conant Cougars were Chris Dolce (8 points, 2 rebounds), Jim Sotos (7 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Brandon Vinson (3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Jordan Hughes (2 points, 2 rebounds) and Kyle Bradley (2 points, 4 rebounds).
The Conant Cougars finished the game with 22 rebounds (six offensive/16 defensive), one block and two steals.

Conant beats Wheaton Warrenville South 41-39


The Conant Cougars won 41-39 against Wheaton Warrenville South on Monday with the help of Dan Sotos, who scored 17 points. On a 3 point play from Jim Sotos, the Conant Cougars clinched their win in the fourth quarter.   The Cougars advance to play Minooka at 6:00 pm at York tomorrow.                          
The Conant Cougars came back with excellent second half play only allowing 7 points, despite being outplayed by Wheaton Warrenville South during the first half of the game.
Sotos was the front runner for the Conant Cougars's offense with 17 points, including six during the third period. He also contributed four rebounds.
Chris Dolce hit double digits, scoring 10 points for the Conant Cougars (3-for-8). Also chipping in for the Conant Cougars were Kyle Bradley (8 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block) and Jim Sotos (5 points, 1 rebound).
The Conant Cougars finished the game with 18 rebounds (six offensive/12 defensive), one block and one steal.

Conant Cougars Beat Waubonsie Valley 48-24

Chris Dolce scored 16 points to lead the Conant Cougars to a 48-24 victory over Waubonsie Valley on Saturday.  The Cougars move on to play Wheaton Warrenville South on Monday at 11:30 at the York Tournament.                          
The Conant Cougars connected from the field early, claiming a 22-4 lead at the half. With 18 points in the third quarter, the Conant Cougars added to their existing lead.
Dolce led the charge for the Conant Cougars's offense, scoring 16 points, with 10 points during the third period. He also contributed five rebounds and two steals.
Also chipping in for the Conant Cougars were Dan Sotos (7 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Jim Sotos (5 points), Jordan Hughes (4 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks), Ryan Davis (4 points, 8 rebounds), Kyle Bradley (3 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal), Ben Schols (3 points, 3 rebounds), Brandon Vinson (3 points) and Henry Pelesh (3 points).

Cougars fall to DePaul Prep 43-39

Despite Chris Dolce putting 10 points on the board, the Conant Cougars lost to DePaul Prep (formerly Gordon Tech) 43-39. On a free throw from Henderson, DePaul Prep locked down their lead in the third quarter.                           
After scoring a game-high 14 points during the second quarter, the Conant Cougars had the edge at the end of the first half.
Dolce led the charge for the Conant Cougars's offense, scoring 10 points, with six points during the third period. He also contributed two rebounds and two steals.
Kyle Bradley made it into double digits, scoring 10 points for the Conant Cougars (4-for-5). Also helping the effort for the Conant Cougars were Dan Sotos (8 points, 7 rebounds), Jordan Hughes (4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), Ryan Davis (3 points, 1 block), Chima Oduocha (2 points, 1 rebound) and Jim Sotos (2 points, 1 rebound).

Cougars fall to Benet

The Conant Cougars fell to Benet on Saturday, 53-29, even with Chris Dolce scoring 11 points.
The Conant Cougars lost steam early, as they trailed 22-18 by the half after scoring a game-high 12 points during the second quarter.
Dolce sunk the most baskets during the fourth period, earning five points for the Conant Cougars.                           
Also helping the effort for the Conant Cougars were Kyle Bradley (6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Jim Sotos (6 points, 1 steal), Dan Sotos (2 points, 3 rebounds), Chima Oduocha (2 points, 3 rebounds) and Brandon Vinson (2 points). Jordan Hughes was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up five rebounds.
The Conant Cougars finished the game with 21 rebounds (10 offensive/11 defensive) and two steals.

Conant beats Hoffman 60-55

  • Jim Sotos scored 18 points to lead the Conant Cougars to a 60-55 victory over the Hoffman Estates on Saturday.
  • After an impressive 12-3 run, the Cougars concluded the first half 32-22.
  • Sotos was the front runner for the Cougars offense with 18 points, including 11 during the second period. He also contributed three rebounds.
  • Dan Sotos hit two three-pointers and scored 12 points total. Two other players also scored in the double digits for the Cougars. Chris Dolce put up 15 points. Also chipping in for Conant were Jordan Hughes (9 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 4 blocks) and Kyle Bradley (4 points, 1 steal).

Cougars defeat Buffalo Grove 56-26

  • The Conant Cougars were victorious against Buffalo Grove 56-26 on Wednesday with the help of Chris Dolce, who scored 13 points and Kyle Bradley, who scored 11 points.
  • The Conant Cougars broke away early with an 18-point second quarter, taking the lead to 32-4 by halftime.
  • Bradley connected with the net the most during the third period, earning four points for the Conant Cougars.
  • Also chipping in for the Conant Cougars were Jim Sotos (6 points),  Jordan Hughes (2 points), Nikolai Todorov (2 points, 1 block), Dan Sotos (6 points), Rob McColaugh (2 points), Ryan Davis (2 points), Chima Oduocha (2 points),Brandon Vinson (2 points), Henry Pelesh (2 points) and Tony Ziccardi (2 points).

Cougars Fall to Fremd

The Conant Cougars fell to Fremd on Saturday, 37-35, despite Dan Sotos putting 15 points on the scoreboard. Fremd clinched their lead in the fourth quarter on a three-pointer from Sliwa.
The Conant Cougars closed out the first half 22-15 on the heels of a 10-2 run. However, it wasn't enough to overcome Fremd's 21 points in the final two quarters of the game.
Sotos was on the ball for the Conant Cougars, making 40% (4-for-10) of shots attempted and hitting 100% (6-for-6) of free throws attempted.
Also chipping in for the Conant Cougars were Chris Dolce (9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals), Kyle Bradley (4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Chima Oduocha (3 points, 1 rebound), Jordan Hughes (2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block) and Jim Sotos (2 points).

Cougars Lose To Elk Grove

In spite of a solid performance from Dan Sotos with 14 points, the Conant Cougars fell to Elk Grove 53-44.
 
Despite a strong finish, with 15 points in the final quarter, the Conant Cougars failed to secure the win.
 
Sotos was the front runner for the Conant Cougars's offense with 14 points, including seven during the fourth period. He also contributed five rebounds.
 
Two other players also racked up double digit scores for the Conant Cougars. Kyle Bradley put up 13 points and Jordan Hughes contributed 12 points. Also helping the effort for the Conant Cougars were Chris Dolce (3 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal) and Brandon Vinson (2 points, 1 rebound). Hughes was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up seven rebounds and one block.                           
 
The Conant Cougars finished the game with 29 rebounds (13 offensive/16 defensive), one block and one steal.

Cougars Lose to Schaumburg

Despite Dan Sotos putting 14 points on the board, the Cougars lost to Schaumburg 48-37. Schaumburg clinched their lead in the third quarter on a three-pointer from #15 Schoo.
  • The Cougars notched points early in the game, claiming a 16-14 lead at the half, but Schaumburg came back for the victory.
  • Sotos was the leader of the Cougars offense with 14 points, including 10 during the fourth period. He also contributed eight rebounds, one steal and one block.
  • Jim Sotos put up two three-pointers and scored eight points total. Also helping the effort for the Cougars were Kyle Bradley (7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), Jordan Hughes 6 points, 1 rebound, 4 blocks) and Chris dolce (2 points, 1 block).
  • The Cougars finished the game with 27 rebounds (seven offensive/20 defensive), eight blocks and one steal.

The Conant Cougars Notch A Win Against Walther Christian


  • The Conant Cougars emerged victorious 62-24 against Walther Christian on Friday on the strength of Chris Dolce, who scored 14 points.  Conant improved to 2-2 on the season.
  • The Conant Cougars achieved a lead early 22-point first quarter, eventually achieving a 33-7 lead by halftime.
  • Dolce led the charge for Cougars's offense, scoring 14 points, with 10 points during the first period. He also contributed five rebounds and one steal.
  • Henry Pelesh sank two three-pointers and scored eight points total. Jim Sotos had double digits, scoring 10 points for Cougars (4-for-6). Cougars fall short vs. St Viator


  • Despite Dan Sotos putting 14 points on the board, the Conant Cougars lost to St. Viator 53-42. On a two-pointer from Ferrante, St. Viator locked down their lead in the third quarter.
  • The Conant Cougars pulled ahead early with a 14-point first quarter on the strength of a 10-0 run, eventually claiming a 20-18 lead by halftime. But this wasn't enough to overcome St. Viator's 32 points in the final two quarters of the game.
  • Sotos was the front runner for the Conant Cougars's offense with 14 points, including seven during the first period. He also contributed three rebounds.

Conant Cougars Varsity Tops Prospect


  • Conant defeated Prospect 62-61 on Wednesday after an evenly matched game.
  • Conant Cougars Varsity came back forcibly in the final two quarters, after being behind early in the game, trailing 30-26 at the half. Sinking a game-high 22 points in the third quarter on the strength of a 12-3 run, Conant added to their lead late in the game.
  • Dan Sotos led the charge for Conant Cougars Varsity's offense, scoring 16 points, with five points during the fourth period. He also contributed three rebounds and one steal.
  • Chris Dolce achieved double digits, scoring 14 points for Conant (5-for-13).
