Conant falls to Oswego

  • Conant fell to Oswego on Wednesday, 53-41, even with Jimmy Sotos scoring 13 points. Oswego grabbed the lead against Cougars on a three-pointer from Jaylen Jones in the second period and held on.
  • Sotos led Conant's offense with 13 points, including seven during the third period. He also contributed four rebounds and one block.
  • Also helping the effort for Conant were Ben Schols (7 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Ryan Davis (6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block), Brandon Vinson (5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals),Mike Downing (4 points, 3 rebounds), C.J.   • Conant fell to Downers Grove South on Tuesday, 52-46, even with Jimmy Sotos scoring 11 points. Downers Grove South grabbed the lead against Cougars on a two-pointer from Tyree Spencer in the second period and held on.
  • Sotos led the charge for Conant's offense, scoring 11 points, with all of them during the fourth period.

Conant defeats Wheaton North, advances to York Tournament Quarter Finals

  • Conant was victorious against Wheaton North 60-56 on Monday with the help of Brandon Vinson, who scored 16 points. Cougars sealed their victory in the fourth quarter on a three-pointer from Ben Schols.
  • At the end of the first half, Conant commanded 31-22 lead after a 17-2 run.
  • Vinson was the front runner for Conant's offense with 16 points, including five during the fourth period. He also contributed four rebounds.

Cougars advance in tournament with win over Sandburg

Conant won 52-40 against Sandburg on Saturday with the help of Ben Schols, who scored 18 points.  Cougars grabbed the lead against Sandburg on a two-pointer from Jimmy Sotos in the second period and held on.  Conant advances in the Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament to play Wheaton North on Monday at 5:00.
  • At the end of the half, Conant was leading at 24-21 due to their exciting 11-4 run. With 20 points in the third quarter, Conant added to their existing lead. 
  • Schols led the charge for Conant's offense, scoring 18 points, with six points during the third period. He also contributed three rebounds and one steal.
  • Two other players also racked up double digit scores for Conant.  Ryan Davis added 16 points and Mike Downing put up 10 points. Cougars fall to Benet

  • Although Ryan Davis put 13 points on the scoreboard, Conant fell to Benet 58-38. Benet grabbed the lead against Cougars on a three-pointer from Daniel Sobolewski in the second period and held on.
  • Davis led Conant's offense with 13 points, including six during the first period. He also contributed seven rebounds and one block.
  • Mike Downing also contributed 7 points, four rebounds, one steal and one block.  Ben Schols (11 points) and Jimmy Sotos (6 points) each contributed multiple three-pointers.

Conant beats Fremd 45-38

  • Conant emerged victorious 45-38 against Fremd on Friday on the strength of Jimmy Sotos, who scored 13 points.  Ryan David had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Cougars clinched their lead in the fourth quarter on a two-pointer from Ryan Davis.  The Cougars improved their record to 7-1.
  • Conant came back with a vengeance in the final two quarters, after being behind early in the game, trailing 31-22 at the half. 
  • Sotos scored the most for Conant during the fourth period with six points.
  • Mike Downing racked up 10 points. Also helping the effort for Conant were Ben Schols (7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) and Tony Ziccardi (4 points, 1 rebound).

Cougars Emerge Victorious Against Wheeling

Cougars Win Versus Rolling Meadows

  • Ryan Davis scored 20 points to bring Conant to a 53-46 victory over Rolling Meadows on Sunday.  Cougars grabbed the lead against Rolling Meadows on a free throw from Davis in the second period and held on.  Conant improve their record to 4-1.
  • Putting up a 26-17 lead at the half, Conant scored points early in the game.  Conant solidified their lead in the third quarter, scoring 14 points. 
  • Going 9-for-9, Davis had a solid showing for Conant making 100% of field goals attempted.

Cougars defeat the Saxons

Jimmy Sotos scored 13 points, helping Conant notch a 41-26 victory over Schaumburg on Saturday. The Cougars improve their record to 3-1.
  • Cougars got ahead early with a 14-point second quarter, racking up a 26-14 lead by halftime. 
  • Sotos shot well from the field for Conant, making 56% (5-for-9) of shots attempted.
  • Mike Downing achieved double digits, scoring 11 points for Conant (5-for-9).  Ben Schols notched two three-pointers and scored six points total. Cougars defeat Lions to win Thanksgiving Tournament

  • It was a back-and-forth affair, but Conant defeated St. Viator 59-48 on Saturday to win the St. Viator Thanksgiving Torunament.  Cougars sealed their victory in the fourth quarter on a free throw from Brandon Vinson.  Both Conant and St. Viator finished the tournament with 2-1 records.  The Cougars win over the Lions is the tiebreaker.
  • Conant trailed early, and were losing 30-27 by the half, only to come back with a vengeance in the final two quarters.  Conant put up 19 points in the final quarter on the strength of a 12-2 run, increasing their lead late in the game. 
  • Jimmy Sotos was the front runner for Conant's offense with 16 points, including four during the fourth period. He also contributed four rebounds.

Cougars defeat Highland Park

Ryan Davis's 17 points propelled Conant to a 54-44 victory over Highland Park on Thursday to improve their record to 1-1.
  • On the heels of an 11-0 run, Cougars led 24-15 at the half. 
  • Davis led Conant's offense with 17 points, including seven during the first period. He also contributed six rebounds and one block.
  • Mike Downing achieved double digits, scoring 10 points for Conant (5-for-5).  Brandon Vinson (13 points) and Ben Schols (6 points) each had multiple three-pointers. Also contributing for Conant were Kyle Bradley (5 points, 1 rebound) and Jimmy Sotos (3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block). 
  • Conant finished the game with 23 rebounds (9 offensive / 14 defensive) and seven blocks.

Cougars fall to Prospect

  • In a great showing, Jimmy Sotos scored 17 points, but this was not enough as Conant fell to Prospect 44-43. On a free throw from Frankie Mack, Prospect sealed their victory in the fourth quarter.
  • At the end of the first half, Cougars led 26-21 on the strength of an 11-3 run. But this wasn't enough to overcome Prospect's 24 points in the final two quarters of the game. 
  • Sotos paved the way for Conant, making 62.5 (5-for-8) of shots attempted while also sinking 87.5 (7-for-8) of free throws attempted.
  • Also contributing for Conant were Ryan Davis (8 points, 5 rebounds), Mike Downing(8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Ben Schosl (5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), and Chima Odoucha(2 points, 5 rebounds).

Conant falls to St. Viator in Sectional Semi Final

  • Although Dan Sotos put nine points on the scoreboard, the Conant Cougars fell to St. Viator 54-40 in the Sectional Semi Final at Barrington.  The Cougars end their season at 19-11.
  • Despite a strong finish, with 15 points in the final quarter, the Conant Cougars failed to secure the win.

Cougars defeat Barrington to win the Regional Championship

Jordan Hughes scored 14 points, helping the Conant Cougars notch a 53-43 victory over Barrington to win the Regional Championship. The Conant Cougars grabbed the lead against Barrington on a three-pointer from Jim Sotos in the second period and held on.  The Cougars advance to the Sectional Semifinal at Barrington on Tuesday versus St. Viator.                           
The Conant Cougars scored early, claiming a 23-20 lead at the half. The Conant Cougars cemented their lead in the third quarter, scoring 17 points.
Hughes was the leader of the Conant Cougars's offense with 14 points, including six during the first period. He also contributed 10 rebounds, two steals and three blocks.

Grenadiers Surrender to the Cougars

  • Jim Sotos scored 17 points to bring the Conant Cougars to a 51-21 victory over Elk Grove on Wednesday. The Conant Cougars (18-10) grabbed the lead against Elk Grove on a three-pointer from Dan Sotos in the second period and held on.  The Cougars advance to the Rolling Meadows Regional Championship versus Barrington on Friday.
  • The Conant Cougars had an early scoring surge, claiming a 22-10 lead at the half. The Conant Cougars solidified their lead in the final quarter, scoring 17 points.

Conant Cougars defeat Elk Grove Grenadiers 62-47

  • Dan Sotos's 19 points propelled the Conant Cougars to a 62-47 victory over Elk Grove on Tuesday in the battle of MSL 2nd Places.  The Cougars finish the regular season with a record of 17-10 and look forward to another battle with Elk Grove at the Rolling Meadows Regional Tuesday at 7:30.
  • With a 30-23 lead at the half, the Conant Cougars pulled ahead early in the game. With 22 points in the third quarter, the Conant Cougars added to their existing lead.

Cougars beat the Pirates 61-51

  • The Conant Cougars emerged victorious 61-51 against Palatine on Saturday on the strength of Dan Sotos, who scored 18 points. The Cougars improved their record to 16-10 and 6-4 in the MSL West finishing 2nd place in the MSL West.
  • The Cougars grabbed the lead in the 2nd period and never relinquished it.  In addition to Dan Sotos, scoring in double digits for the Cougars was Kyle Bradley with a double double (16 points and 10 rebounds) and Jordan Hughes with 15 points.
  • The Conant Cougars connected from the field early, claiming a 29-21 lead at the half. With 26 points in the fourth quarter, the Conant Cougars increased their lead late in the game with a 12-3 run.
  • Also contributing for the Conant Cougars were Brandon Vinson (6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal), Jim Sotos (4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal) and Ryan Davis (2 points, 4 rebounds). Bradley was a big defensive contributor as well with three steals and one block.

Cougars fall to the Shamrocks 63-55

  • Although Jim Sotos put 15 points on the scoreboard and with Jordan Hughes adding 14, the Conant Cougars fell to St. Patrick 63-55.
  • The Cougars and St. Patrick were tied up at 30-30 at the half, but St. Patrick surpassed the Cougars during the final two quarters. Despite a strong finish, with 18 points in the final quarter, the Cougars failed to secure the win.
  • Sotos was the leader of the Cougars' offense with 15 points, including seven during the fourth period. He also contributed two rebounds, one steal and one block.
  • Dan Sotos had 6 points, Brandon Vinson put up two three-pointers and scored eight points total. Two other players also racked up double digit scores the Cougars. Kyle Bradley had 12 points.  Bradley and Hughes each were big defensive contributors as well, racking up three rebounds and two blocks.

Cougars ground the Hawks 62-47

  • The Conant Cougars were victorious against the Hoffman Estates Hawks 62-47 on Saturday with the help of Dan Sotos, who scored 16 points.  On Senior Night, the Cougars improved their overall record to 15-9 and 5-4 in the MSL West.
  • On the heels of a 13-4 run during the first quarter, the Conant Cougars pulled ahead and eventually claimed a 35-26 lead by halftime.
  • Sotos maintained a blistering pace for the Conant Cougars, scoring 10 points in the first period.
  • Jim Sotos put up two three-pointers and scored 12 points total. Two other players also racked up double digit scores for the Conant Cougars. Kyle Bradley put up 10 points. Cougars take a stand verse the Spartans


Dan Sotos scored 16 points to bring the Conant Cougars to a 53-47 victory over Glenbrook North on Saturday.  The Cougars improved their record to 14-9.
  • On the heels of a 23-5 run, the Conant Cougars finished up the half 25-12.
  • Sotos found success all over the court for the Conant Cougars, making 55% (6-for-11) of shots attempted while also sinking 60% (3-for-5) of free throws attempted.

Conant falls to Barrington

  • Despite Dan Sotos  putting nine points on the board, the Conant Cougars lost to Barrington 39-35. On a free throw from Becker, Barrington clinched their win in the fourth quarter.
  • The Conant Cougars closed out the first half 20-16 on the heels of a 10-4 run. However, it wasn't enough to overcome Barrington's 23 points in the final two quarters of the game.
  • Sotos was the front runner for the Conant Cougars' offense with nine points, including four during the first period. He also contributed five rebounds.

  • The Cougars defeated Deerfield 43-41 in overtime on Wednesday. Kyle Bradley had a put back with no time remaining. 
  • The Cougars fell behind early, 17-15 by the half, but avenged their first half with solid second half. 
  • Bradley paved the way for the Cougars making 67% (4-for-6) of shots attempted while also sinking 100% (4-for-4) of free throws attempted.  Bradley had a double double adding 10 rebounds.

Conant beats Palatine 56-46

Chris Dolce scored 19 points, helping the Conant Cougars notch a 56-46 victory over Palatine on Friday.  That is the Cougars 6th victory in a row making their record 10-7.
  • At the end of a successful first half, the Conant Cougars led 31-17 on the strength of a 21-7 run.
  • Dolce had a great game from the field, making 86% (6-for-7) of shots attempted as well as 100% (3-for-3) of threes attempted. He also shot well from the line, making 100% (4-for-4) of free throws attempted.
  • The Cougars ran out to a 49-31 lead in the 2nd half.

Conant defeats Lake Park 61-50

The Conant Cougars were victorious against Lake Park 61-50 on Sunday with the help of four players who were in double digits.    This is the Cougars fifth win a row bringing their record to 9-7.                      
The Conant Cougars concluded the first half 28-23 on the heels of a 15-4 run. The Cougars locked in their lead in the final quarter, scoring 17 points.
Chris Dolce led the charge for the Conant Cougars's offense, scoring 15 points, with nine points during the third period. He also contributed two rebounds and three steals.
Jim Sotos hit two three-pointers and scored 11 points total. The two other players who also added ten or more points for the Conant Cougars were Dan Sotos who contributed 12 points and Kyle Bradley who put up 12 points. Also contributing for the Conant Cougars were Brandon Vinson (7 points, 1 rebound) and Chima Oduocha (2 points, 2 rebounds).
Bradley was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up seven rebounds, one steal and one block.
The Cougars were 13-15 from the free throw line.
The Conant Cougars finished the game with 27 rebounds (seven offensive/20 defensive), five blocks and five steals.
