Conant falls to St. Viator in Sectional Semi Final

  • Although Dan Sotos put nine points on the scoreboard, the Conant Cougars fell to St. Viator 54-40 in the Sectional Semi Final at Barrington.  The Cougars end their season at 19-11.
  • Despite a strong finish, with 15 points in the final quarter, the Conant Cougars failed to secure the win.
  • Sotos led the Conant Cougars's offense with nine points, including four during the fourth period. He also contributed six rebounds and one block.
  • Also helping the effort for the Conant Cougars were Kyle Bradley (8 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal), Brandon Vinson (8 points, 1 steal), Jim Sotos (7 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block),Ryan Davis (4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block), Jordan Hughes (2 points, 2 rebounds), and Dan Ranallo (2 points).
  • The Conant Cougars finished the game with 24 rebounds (12 offensive/12 defensive), three blocks and two steals

Cougars defeat Barrington to win the Regional Championship

Jordan Hughes scored 14 points, helping the Conant Cougars notch a 53-43 victory over Barrington to win the Regional Championship. The Conant Cougars grabbed the lead against Barrington on a three-pointer from Jim Sotos in the second period and held on.  The Cougars advance to the Sectional Semifinal at Barrington on Tuesday versus St. Viator.                           
The Conant Cougars scored early, claiming a 23-20 lead at the half. The Conant Cougars cemented their lead in the third quarter, scoring 17 points.
Hughes was the leader of the Conant Cougars's offense with 14 points, including six during the first period. He also contributed 10 rebounds, two steals and three blocks.                             
Two other players also added ten or more points for the Conant Cougars. Jimmy Sotos put up 14 points and Kyle Bradley added 12 points. Brandon Vinson hit two three-pointers and scored eight points total. Also helping the effort for the Conant Cougars were Dan Sotos (3 points, 5 rebounds) and Ryan Davis (2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks).                            
The Conant Cougars finished the game with 28 rebounds (eight offensive/20 defensive), five blocks and three steals.

Grenadiers Surrender to the Cougars

  • Jim Sotos scored 17 points to bring the Conant Cougars to a 51-21 victory over Elk Grove on Wednesday. The Conant Cougars (18-10) grabbed the lead against Elk Grove on a three-pointer from Dan Sotos in the second period and held on.  The Cougars advance to the Rolling Meadows Regional Championship versus Barrington on Friday.
  • The Conant Cougars had an early scoring surge, claiming a 22-10 lead at the half. The Conant Cougars solidified their lead in the final quarter, scoring 17 points.
  • Sotos led the charge for the Conant Cougars's offense, scoring 17 points, with seven points during the third period. He also contributed two rebounds and one steal.
  • Sotos notched two three-pointers and scored 10 points total. Two other players also racked up double digit scores for the Conant Cougars. Kyle Bradley added 11 points. Also helping the effort for the Conant Cougars were Brandon Vinson (7 points), Ryan Davis (4 points, 4 rebounds) and Ben Schols (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal). Sotos was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up six rebounds and two blocks.
  • The Conant Cougars finished the game with 26 rebounds (seven offensive/19 defensive), six blocks and four steals.
