Conant defeats Prospect to win the MSL Championship


  • Conant emerged victorious 41-35 against Prospect on Wednesday to win the MSL Championship.  The Cougars improved their record to 19-6.
  • The Cougars were led by Jimmy Sotos who scored 22 points.
  • Claiming an 18-14 lead at the half, Cougars put up points early in the game. 
  • Sotos paved the way for Conant, making 73% (8-for-11) of shots attempted while also sinking 100% (5-for-5) of free throws attempted.
  • Ben Schols put two three-pointers on the board and scored seven points total. Also helping the effort for Conant were Ryan Davis (9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal) and Chima Oduocha (2 points, 3 rebounds). 
  • Conant finished the game with 21 rebounds (9 offensive / 12 defensive), one block and five steals.

Conant claims MSL West Championship with win over Hoffman Estates


  • The Conant Cougars made a short trip to Hoffman Estates High School and came back with the MSL West Division Title.  Conant emerged victorious 35-31 against Hoffman Estates on Friday on the strength of Jimmy Sotos, who scored 18 points.  The Cougars locked in the win in the fourth quarter on a two-pointer from Sotos.  Conant will host MSL East Division Champion Prospect on Wednesday night for the Mid Suburban League Conference Championship.
  • Conant fell behind early, trailing 15-14 by the half, only to come back hard in the final two quarters. With 13 points, Conant added to their lead in the final quarter with momentum from a 12-2 run. 
  • Sotos led the charge for Conant's offense, scoring 18 points, with nine points during the fourth period. He also contributed four rebounds and six steals.
  • Also helping the effort for Conant were Chima Oduocha (6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), Ryan Davis (4 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals), Mike Downing (4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block), and Ben Schols (2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals). 
  • Conant finished the game with 32 rebounds (17 offensive / 15 defensive), two blocks and 19 steals.

Conant defeats St. Patricks 48-41

  • Ryan Davis scored 17 points, helping Conant notch a 48-41 victory over St. Patrick on Tuesday. On a three-pointer from Brandon Vinson, Cougars secured their lead in the third quarter.  The Cougars improved their record to 17-6.
  • Conant came back forcibly in the final two quarters, after being behind early in the game, trailing 23-22 at the half.
  • Davis paved the way for Conant, making 50% (6-for-12) of shots attempted while also sinking 100% (5-for-5) of free throws attempted.
  • Vinson tapped out at double digits, scoring 13 points for Conant (4-for-5). Also contributing for Conant were Chima Oduocha (6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block), Jimmy Sotos (6 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals), Mike Downing (4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), and Danny Ranallo (2 points, 1 rebound).
  • Conant finished the game with 23 rebounds (10 offensive / 13 defensive), two blocks and four steals.

Conant falls to Fremd

  • Jimmy Sotos scored 21 points, but this was not enough as Conant fell to Fremd 54-38. Fremd grabbed the lead against Cougars on a two-pointer from Brian Dompke in the second period and held on.
  • Conant and Fremd were tied up at 18-18 at the half, but Fremd gained the momentum needed during the final two quarters. Even though Conant added 12 points in the final quarter, they failed to make a comeback. 
  • Sotos led the charge for Conant's offense, scoring 21 points, with nine points during the fourth period.
  • Also contributing for Conant were Ryan Davis (9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks), Mike Downing (4 points, 3 rebounds), and C.J. Deshazer (2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals). 
  • Conant finished the game with 20 rebounds (9 offensive / 11 defensive), three blocks and eight steals.

Conant defeats Glenbrook North 60-45

Mike Downing's 17 points propelled Conant to 60-45 victory over Glenbrook North on Saturday. The Cougars improved their record to 16-5.
  • With an 18-point first quarter, Cougars pulled ahead early on the strength of a 9-2 run, eventually claiming a 30-24 lead by halftime. 
  • Downing led Conant offense with 17 points, including six during the first period. He also contributed seven rebounds and three blocks.
  • Danny Ranallo put up three three-pointers and scored 11 points total. Three other players also added ten or more points for Conant.  Ryan Davis added 14 points and Jimmy Sotos put up 11 points. Also helping the effort for Conant were C.J. Deshazer (2 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) and Chima Oduocha (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal). 
  • Conant finished the game with 22 rebounds (5 offensive / 17 defensive), three blocks and nine steals.

Conant beats Schaumburg 48-37


Conant emerged victorious 48-37 against Schaumburg on Friday on the strength of Jimmy Sotos who scored 14 points.  Cougars sealed their victory in the fourth quarter on a free throw from Sotos.  The Cougars improved their record to 15-5 and 8-0 in the MSL West.  With the victory, the Cougars clinched at least a share of the MSL West Title with two games remaining in conference play.

  • On the heels of an 18-5 run, Conant led 20-11 at the half.  Conant solidified their lead in the final quarter, scoring 21 points. 
  • Sotos was the leader of Conant's offense with 14 points, including 10 during the fourth period. He also contributed seven rebounds, two steals and one block.
  • Ryan Davis went into double digits, scoring 13 points for Conant (6-for-9). Also chipping in for Conant were Brandon Vinson (7 points, 3 rebounds), Danny Ranallo (6 points, 4 rebounds), Mike Downing (5 points, 2 rebounds), and Chima Oduocha 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block). 
  • Conant finished the game with 34 rebounds (16 offensive / 18 defensive), four blocks and four steals.

Cougars defeat Lancers 55-51


  • Conant were victorious against Lake Park 55-51 on Tuesday with the help of C.J. Deshazer who scored 11 points.  Deshazer helped Cougars take the lead for good with a three-pointer in the third quarter.  The Cougars improved their record to 14-5.
  • Conant got behind early in the game, trailing 27-22 by the half, only to come back forcibly in the final two quarters. With 20 points in the final quarter, Conant hada solid finish. 
  • With a field goal percentage of 60% (3-for-5), Deshazer had a great game from the field, also sinking 100% (3-for-3) of threes attempted.
  • Jimmy Sotos achieved double digits, scoring 10 points for Conant.  Also contributing for Conant were Brandon Vinson (9 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Mike Downing (7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 blocks), Palmer Graham (4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block), Ryan Davis (3 points, 7 rebounds), and Chima Oduocha (2 points, 1 rebound). 
  • Conant finished the game with 20 rebounds (5 offensive / 15 defensive), five blocks and 15 steals.
